April Showers

I absolutely love the winter's in Colorado, really I love every season in Colorado.
Which I guess is why I love where I live.
But the changing of each season is my favorite.
As I write this right now, I'm giddy with excitement, because we have a full on thunderstorm.
It's much milder than the Oklahoma storms I'm used to, but I love it none the less.
Here is a brief snapshot of how our days have gone lately at the Luallin household.

After eating breakfast and before getting dressed, Little Miss enjoys her no clothes time.
Yep, running around in her diaper is the highlight of her morning

And then of course, some gardening while she watches the dogs eat her breakfast

This is about the only time of the year where my plants are alive in the front yard...
So I pretend to know what I'm doing, I pull weeds, water, move rocks around, ya know, just try to make it look like I know what I'm doing, but really I have no clue.

And then we get some clothes on and play at parks or other places we decide to explore.

And then I guess I find time for some work....
I've really enjoyed this part time working I've gotten to do this month.
(Husband doesn't like the money part, but I love it!)
Next month, I'll be working more full time, but April has been a gift.
A beautiful, restful gift.  I get to spend my days with my Little Miss and watching her grow and learn so many new things.
I've enjoyed every second.

Bits and Baubles of all Girl Cuteness!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

I hope you are having a restful and relaxing Sunday afternoon.
I know we sure are.
In my relaxation, I decided I must share some adorable things for your enjoyment.
If you have a little girl, you must continue reading, if you don't... well then think of nieces or cousins.

Pretty dang cute, right?  :)
Well, my sweet friend, and fellow mommy has started her own Etsy shop selling these beautiful creations.
And I highly recommend you checking it out HERE.
You'll thank me when you get one of these in your little girls room!

Ok, now continue your Sunday resting!

Being a Pack Rat Pays Off

A long time ago, my mother was having a garage sale.
A long time I go I rescued this little beauty from being sold for no where near it's worth.
And then I stashed it in a closet and never used it.
Until the other day....

I rescued this beauty yet again.
Yes, it's a bread maker!
Yes, my brother is going to text me about how lame I am.
But I don't care.  This thing is amazing!!!

I mean really.... it costs pennies to make healthy, whole wheat bread!
PENNIES, I say!  PENNIES.
Okay now that I have made my point, I'll move on.

I found this wonderful easy recipe and decided to give it a whirl and voila, the most amazing homemade bread ever.

(isn't it cute?)

And then, after it cools, you cut it open to find this....

Beautiful, delicious, cheap and all natural bread.

So the point of this story is, it's okay to be a pack rat.
You never know when you something you're saving might come in handy.
And that, my friend, is called justification.

And the Basket Chirped

I hope everyone had a fabulous Easter.
I know we sure did and now it's that highly anticipated time where I bombard you with cute pics of the kid.... I know you just can't wait.
And then maybe I'll just tell you about my Easter disappointment.

Well, Little Miss had her first cake baking tutorial with Mom.
It was more like she kept trying to lick the cinnamon and sugar, but it was fun.
Her status was instantly bumped up when she got to sit on the counter and watch me bake.
Then I let her lick the crumbs out of the pan after we were finished.
This is what happened, she grabbed the cake pan, wanting more.....  how can you resist that face?

We attempted a self-portrait which ended up in a candid moment because Little Miss thinks she's quite hilarious, and well, I can't lie, I do to.

After church, we took our pictures.
Most people do them before, but not us.
We were running late... shocking, I know
So after church worked perfectly.

It doesn't happen very often that we get a picture together since I'm usually the one behind the camera, but I made Caleb take a picture of us.
I was squinting so you can't see my eyes... oh well, I'll take what I can get.

And then we headed off to our friends house for a wonderful Easter lunch and an Easter egg hunt.
It was GREAT.

She was off... holding the basket and after a brief information session from Dad on how to put eggs in our basket, she was a pro! Such a professional in fact, that on her first egg hunt of her life, she collected a cash prize egg... That's my girl!
Now I didn't buy this basket for Blake.
My mom did, so I was not familiar with the ends and outs of this.
But throughout the easter egg hunt, I kept hearing chirping.
So much so, I thought, someone had actually brought in baby chicks for the kids for Easter.
It wouldn't stop... and Little Miss heard it also.

I just knew that someone was going to whip out baby chicks and I was going to have so much fun with the little cuties.
I waited and waited but no chicks came out.
So Little Miss and I patiently waited and opened her easter eggs.
And as I was digging through her basket, my hopes were shot.
I discovered a small little sound box that was chirping.
No cute baby chicks, just a dang chirping Easter basket.
Aww man, maybe next year.

Our Answered Prayer

I sit here tonight and I'm so grateful.
Relieved, but mostly grateful.

We got amazing news from the Doctor's at Children's Hospital today.
Blake is going to be fine.
Cancer was officially taken out of the picture.

Let me back up and explain.
About 6 months ago, Blake developed a weird rash on her body.
We took her in and through tests found out she had a very very low count of a certain type of white blood cell.
We kept testing and testing and nothing was changing.

For a period of time, she was on house arrest, and wasn't allowed to be around anyone for fear that she'd get sick and not be able to fight it off.
And for a period of time, our doctor thought that something was wrong with her bone marrow, and something was attacking these cells.... Cancer.

Oh we were freaked out.  Although, prelim tests showed no cancer cells, her count was still not improving.
So off we went to Children's Hospital today.

After a couple of hours of tests and examinations galore,
We got the news, definitely no cancer!
I wanted to hug the doctor, but I decided that was inappropriate so I hugged Blake instead.
She was going to be fine.

Yes, we have to keep testing her for every 6 months to watch the levels.
Yes any bacterial infection will require hard core antibiotics to treat.
But her body is making up for the lack of these cells in her body, and we will just have to wait and see if this is something she was born with, or if it is a temporary thing while her body fixes itself.

I've done a lot of praying over these last few months.
I've been working to constantly check the "what if's", and the worries.
And one thing I've learned is that she is not mine!
Yes, I'm her mother.
But she is God's child created by Him to do His will.
I'm just the lucky one who gets to raise her.
I don't know how long I'll have her, but I will enjoy every second I get.
And I will make sure I give 100% to raising her the way she should be raised.

And as I sang my girl to sleep tonight, and she kept looking at me saying, "Mama".
I hugged her tight, and knew that God was taking great care of us today.
And I'm grateful.
